How to Play SupaJax Progressive Video Poker

SupaJax is a video poker game with a progressive jackpot developed by the leading online casino software producer, Microgaming. It is far from being ranked among the most popular video poker variants, heavily ostracized for its use of the not-so-wild SupaJax card.

The SupaJax card is kind of like a Joker, except that it is not considered a wild card in any standard poker hand. The only time the SupaJax cards becomes beneficial is if the player has Four Jacks, plus the SupaJax card. This is the highest ranking hand in the game, and will release the progressive jackpot so long as the player has bet the maximum 5 coins. But again, this card is utterly useless in any other circumstance.

Another deviation from typical Microgaming video poker games is that players cannot choose their coin size. All coins are fixed at a 1-credit value. Outside of the SupaJax card combination and fixed betting rate, this card game follows all of the standard rules of Jacks or Better Video Poker.

Let’s take a look at the basic screen options of SupaJax Progressive Video Poker.

Optional Coin Sizes: $1
Coins per Play: 1 to 5
Min / Max Bet: $1 / $5
Max Payout: Progressive Jackpot
Lowest Winning Hand: Pair of Jacks or Better

How to Play SupaJax Progressive Video Poker
Since the coin size is fixed, the only pre-game option is to choose how many coins to bet; 1 thru 5. Note that betting anything below the maximum 5 coins will not activate the progressive jackpot. Clicking the Bet One button will bet one coin, and can be pressed as many times as necessary to wager the desired amount. Pressing Bet Max will automatically bet 5 credits and deal the cards. Otherwise, press Deal to begin the game.

The player is dealt five, visible cards. Clicking on any card will change its status from a Discard to a HELD card. The player must click each card he wishes to keep to produce a HELD sing on it. Any card not marked HELD will be discarded.

When ready, clicking the Deal button will replace all un-held cards with new cards, while keeping all HELD cards. This produces the final, 5-card hand. If the hand ranks high enough with a Pair of Jacks or anything better, the corresponding hand rank and payout will light up on the pay table and the appropriate credits are awarded. If not, the bet is lost.

As with all Microgaming online video poker games, anytime a hand wins, the player is given the option to play a special Double feature, wherein they can double their winnings or lose it all with a single click of a card. To risk the winnings on a double-or-nothing bet, click Double. Otherwise, click Collect. The winnings are credited and a new round of SupaJax is ready to be played.

SupaJax Progressive Video Poker Double Feature
When a player chooses to play the Double feature, 5 new cards are dealt. This is a simple Hi-Lo game. The first card is played face-up. The remaining four cards are dealt face-down. The player must click on any one of the face-down cards. If this card ranks higher than the first card, the player doubles their original winnings. If not, the winnings are lost and the game returns to SupaJax video poker.

If the player succeeds in doubling their winnings, they can click Double again for another chance to double their winnings, or click Collect to keep the current winnings and return to SupaJax video poker.
